Whether you are celebrating in an intimate home setting or at a lavish rented location, a Parisian inspired bridal shower is always sure to leave a lasting impression on your guests.  Here are five favorite Parisian decorating ideas that you can use to create your own fabulous affair, overflowing with romantic French details that are sure to inspire.

Candle with dried lavender

One of the first thoughts that come to mind when thinking of Paris is that it is often referred to as “The City of Lights.”  Even though this term comes from its leading role in the Age of Enlightenment, the expression now also refers to the twinkling lights that illuminate the dreamy city at night. Emphasize the enchantment of your bridal shower by placing candles or battery powered tea lights throughout the space. Make glass candle holders more interesting by tying them with twine bows and placing sprigs of dried lavender beside them.

No doubt, a guest book full of inspirational and positive messages from guests is always nice, but sometimes it’s fun to mix it up a little! This “love lock” frame is not only a truly special guest sign in, but it will also look fantastic displayed in your home after your party is complete. Create this display by cutting chicken wire a half inch smaller than the decorative frame that you will be using. Then use staples to secure the wire to the back of the frame. Present your frame on a decorative easel and leave a basket of small locks, wooden tags and sharpies nearby so that guests can sign and attach their love locks to your new piece of art.  Click here for more detailed instructions.

First impressions matter. When inviting guests to your shower, be sure to send them an invitation that will get them excited about your event. The style of your invitation should also give guests an idea of what to expect at the party. Choose Parisian inspired colors and patterns for your invitations that will mimic the décor of your bridal shower. In this case, the wide striped pattern that is shown on the custom invitation below from Scriptura can also be used on table cloths, chair ties and other decorative items. The recognizable fleur de lis that borders this invitation can also be printed on guest name tags or menus. Let guests know that you will be throwing a Parisian inspired shower by simply featuring the iconic Eiffel Tower on your invitations.

A Homemade Lavender Centerpiece

Thank guests for attending your celebration by sending them home with a French inspired party favor. A box of yummy macaroons or chocolates is always a delicious choice, but if you are looking for something a bit more creative – why not send them home with a DIY potted French lavender plant instead? These potted plants are incredibly easy to put together and budget friendly as well. Click here to learn how you can make your own lavender favors that are sure to excite your guests!

No French get-together is complete without a cup of steaming café au lait and a selection of mouthwatering pastries. End your Parisian inspired bridal shower on a sweet note by purchasing delicious pastries from a New Orleans neighborhood bakery. Arrange your pastries on a superbly decorated dessert table. Start off by hanging a bold striped fabric behind the table to make a neutral backdrop that will highlight all the yummy desserts. The most eye-catching and easily set up dessert tables are symmetrical; create balance by choosing a large centerpiece that will anchor your table. Your centerpiece can be anything from a tall layered cake adorned with lavender sprigs, to a brilliant bouquet of flowers. Use elevated cake stands and large trays to display pastries at different heights on either side of the large centerpiece. Sit back and watch guests as they enjoy themselves.

Add a little French music to top it all off.   You could always go with the classic French café accordion music in the background, or have a playlist featuring classic French artists, such as Édith Piaf (“La Vie en Rose” and “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien”) or Gillian Hills (“Zou Bisou Bisou”).  There are also several current French artists you could check out, like Ben l’Oncle Soul or Camille, if you want to have more of a modern ambience.  Whatever you choose, your Parisian inspired bridal shower will be unforgettable for both you and your guests. Bon fête!
