Richie proposed on June 6, 2014. I remember the date well because I had just come home from taking the Louisiana Notary test at LSU. I was nervous about a specific question and my phone had died on the way home (of course I forgot my car charger). So, I was sitting in our bedroom charging my phone, trying to look up the answer. Richie came into the room and told me he bought me a gift because he was proud of me for working so hard to pass the test. We are both gun enthusiasts and he presented me with what I thought was a new handgun in a case. Needless to say, when I opened up the case he got down on one knee and proposed. The proposal wasn’t extravagant or glamorous, but it was definitely “us”!

The rest of the wedding was 100% “us” too. We were wed at Hemingbough, an open-air amphitheater, in front of a beautiful lake with 120 of our closest family and friends. It was everything we had dreamed of!

Planning was quite stressful at first, but once we started concentrating on what made us happy, it was a total breeze. I couldn’t have planned it without my mom. She was there for me every step of the way, and I am forever grateful for her help and patience. Richie was a typical “tell me when and where to show up” kind of groom, but he gave his input with the two most important aspects of the wedding: food and alcohol!

We had a rather large wedding party consisting of 9 bridesmaids, 8 groomsmen, 2 ring bearers, and 4 flower girls. Family is very important to both of us, so we couldn’t leave anyone out. My favorite part of the wedding planning was being able to spend so much time with the people that we care about most. I had a few crafting nights where my bridesmaids all came over and we worked on wedding projects with a few bottles of wine!

I love most things vintage, so our wedding definitely had a vintage style-this was evident from the venue to the decor to my dress. I even wore my grandmother’s antique diamonds as my something borrowed. We are so excited on starting a new life journey together as husband and wife.
